  7. Check Your Technical SEO

1. Mine Your Search Queries

Google Search Console is one of the most underused SEO tools, yet it holds some of the most valuable insights. This is especially true for mature websites with dozens or hundreds of indexed pages.

Head to your “Performance” tab and filter by page. You’ll see exactly which queries are triggering impressions for your content, and where your pages are sitting in the SERPs.

Look out for:

  • Impressions without clicks: These are missed opportunities—either your title/description isn’t enticing, or the page doesn’t quite match user intent.
  • Low average position keywords: If you’re ranking at position 11 or 12 for a specific phrase, optimising for it could push you into page one.
  • Irrelevant queries: These might suggest your page is missing the mark thematically—and could signal the need to split or restructure your content.

Use this data to improve both the page itself and how it appears in search:

  • Add new subheadings using high-impression phrases.
  • Update internal links and anchor text to match those terms.
  • Rework your meta title and description to align better with search intent.

Need an example? Let’s say your blog on “popular fetishes” is getting lots of impressions for “foot fetish” but minimal clicks. You could:

  • Add a new section focused on foot-related kinks with the heading “What Is A Foot Fetish?”
  • Write a standalone blog targeting that niche (and link to it internally).
  • Update your meta description to include the keyword and appeal more directly to kink-focused readers.

These small tweaks can be enough to shift your average position and dramatically boost CTR without needing to build a brand-new page.

2. Target Pages Already Ranking

One of the biggest missed opportunities in SEO is neglecting content that’s already ranking, but not quite breaking through.

Moving a page from position #11 to #5 is almost always easier (and more profitable) than trying to revive something buried on page seven. The real growth often lies in optimising what’s almost working.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Identify mid-ranking pages: Use Google Search Console, Ahrefs, or SEMrush to spot URLs ranking between positions 6–20 for valuable keywords. Filter by traffic potential, not just clicks.
  • Improve internal linking: Add relevant internal links from other blogs or pages, using keyword-rich anchor text that reinforces the target query.
  • Update and expand the content: Add data, expert quotes, user insights, FAQs, or embedded media to increase dwell time and freshness.
  • Match the SERP format: If the other top results are lists, guides, or video-based, mirror the structure while adding your own angle.
  • Use semantic SEO: Include related keywords, synonyms, and topic clusters to signal depth and relevance.

This is especially effective for adult businesses with large content libraries, like clip stores, cam platforms, fetish blogs, or even escort sites with dozens of service or city pages.

If you’ve got 200 indexed posts, at least 10 of them are probably one small tweak away from top-5 status.

3. Perform a SERP Analysis

Let’s say you want to rank for “fetish porn” or “vibrators.” Before you dive into on-page tweaks, take a step back: what does Google actually want for that query?

This is where SERP analysis comes in… comparing the top 3–5 results to understand the content format, structure, length, and media types that are performing best.

Look for:

  • Content format: Are the top results listicles, tutorials, reviews, or long-form guides? Match the intent and style, not just the keywords.
  • Media use: Do they embed videos, use GIFs, show product tables, or include comparison charts?
  • Depth: How comprehensive is the content? Are they answering user questions that you’re skipping?
  • Domain authority: Are you competing with industry giants like Pornhub, Reddit, or Chaturbate? If so, consider pivoting to a niche variation of the keyword (e.g. “best clitoral vibrators” instead of just “vibrators”).

Use tools like Surfer SEO, Clearscope, or even a manual spreadsheet to compare your page with those above you. Find the gaps, then close them better than anyone else.

4. Build Backlinks That Have an Effect

Backlinks are still one of Google’s most powerful ranking signals, but the algorithm has changed quite a bit over the years. These days, it’s all about context, trust, and authority.

Especially in the adult space, where mainstream media links are rare, you need to be strategic. Spammy link farms won’t just fail to help you rank… they could actively hurt your domain.

Here’s what works in 2025:

  • Guest posts on high-authority adult sites: Think beyond directories… look for niche blogs, review platforms, or educational adult brands open to content contributions.
  • Affiliate link swaps: Collaborate with cam platforms, toy retailers, or dating brands where link exchanges are natural and mutually beneficial. Just make sure it fits the content organically.
  • Data-led content: Create original stats, user surveys, or trend reports (e.g. “Top Search Trends in Lesbian Porn”) and pitch them to journalists or industry blogs.
  • Podcast appearances or awards listings: Getting featured as a guest or nominee can earn you powerful follow links, especially from sites with strong DA.

At the end of the day, it’s all about relevance. A single dofollow link from a trusted adult domain is far more valuable than 50 irrelevant ones from low-quality general blogs.

5. Add Schema Markup to Boost Visibility

Schema markup doesn’t directly improve ranking, but it can significantly improve how your site appears in search results.

Rich snippets (like star ratings, FAQs, and video thumbnails) make your listings stand out, improve click-through rates, and add credibility. In a crowded market, that’s a big deal.

For adult websites, here are the most useful types of structured data:

  • FAQ schema: Ideal for blog posts, service pages, or category descriptions that answer common questions (e.g. “Is it legal to work as an escort in Dubai?”).
  • Video schema: Use this to mark up trailers, exclusive scenes, or performer interviews. This is especially useful for tube sites or clip platforms.
  • Product schema: Perfect for adult toy shops or content stores offering physical or digital goods.
  • LocalBusiness schema: Escort agencies and tantric massage parlours can benefit from this for better map and local pack visibility.

Use Google’s Rich Results Test to check if your current pages qualify. Then implement the markup manually or via a structured data plugin. Just remember to make sure it reflects your real content.

6. Create Video Content for “How-To” & Tutorial Keywords

Video dominates Google’s SERPs for instructional and educational queries, and this trend is only growing in 2025. If you’re relying on text alone, you’re already at a disadvantage.

For adult brands, this opens up huge opportunities. Google regularly prioritises video results for keywords like:

  • “How to use a prostate massager”
  • “Best cam sites for beginners”
  • “How to become a porn creator”

Below is a good example of a video product guide, found on the LoveHoney website for one of their vibrators:

You don’t need a massive production budget. Even simple walkthroughs, demonstrations, or teaser clips can help you rank fast. Just make sure you:

  • Include keyword-rich video titles and descriptions
  • Use video schema markup on the hosting page
  • Embed videos on your blog or product pages to increase dwell time

This is especially effective for toy brands, cam platforms, and wellness educators.

7. Perform a Technical SEO Health Check

You’d be amazed at how many adult websites stall at page two due to a handful of technical issues. From bloated media files to broken canonical tags, even small bugs can block big wins.

Run a full check using tools like Google Search Console, GTMetrix, or PageSpeed Insights. Look out for:

  • Uncompressed media: Oversized images and auto-playing video can destroy load speeds, especially on mobile.
  • Broken links or 404s: These reduce crawl efficiency and kill trust signals—especially on older blog archives or clip stores.
  • Mobile usability errors: Google’s core updates have penalised poor mobile UX repeatedly. Check font sizes, tap targets, layout shifts, and how ads render.
  • Missing metadata: Every page should have a title, meta description, alt tags, and structured headers.

Don’t just rely on automated tests. Do a real-world check from your own phone. Scroll. Click. Try to convert. What’s broken? What’s slow? What’s unclear?
